This mural is one of the earliest in the artist’s painting career depicting a quilt and clothes of a mother and child drying on a bucolic laundry line. The mural was painted in the basement of The Family Tree, a battered women’s shelter in Northwest Denver, where the artist herself lived as a young child. Resident children helped paint the squares featured on the quilt and the mural remains, photographed seven years after its initial application, a favorite feature in the building.
